Cheddar Biscuits — Charlie’s Birthday Style
Warm, flaky biscuits packed with cheddar and baked fresh for the table.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ cup cold butter, cubed
- 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- ¾ cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
- ½ tsp garlic powder (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven. Set oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and garlic powder.
- Cut in butter. Add cold butter and work it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add cheese. Fold in shredded cheddar.
- Add milk. Stir just until dough comes together. Do not overmix.
- Portion. Scoop dough onto baking sheet in mounds.
- Bake. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden.
- Finish. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle lightly with garlic powder.

- Cold butter = fluffy biscuits.
- Don’t overwork the dough or they’ll get dense.
- Perfect with pulled pork, rib roast, or just on their own.
