Founding Pour-Fathers

This isn’t a shandy. It’s a declaration. Built with bold bourbon, tart cherry, citrus, and a crisp summer ale, Founding Pour-fathers is the drink you raise when the grill’s hot, the playlist’s loud, and the day’s worth remembering.

Ingredients

  • ½ oz cherry juice concentrate (or ¼ oz high-quality grenadine)
  • ½ oz sweet vermouth
  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice
  • ½ oz bourbon
  • 8 oz Sam Adams Summer Ale (or citrus-forward wheat beer)
  • Optional: Luxardo cherry or lemon wheel for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a chilled pint glass, add cherry juice (or grenadine), sweet vermouth, lemon juice, and bourbon.
  2. Slowly pour in the beer to preserve carbonation. Let it foam and settle.
  3. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Garnish with a lemon wheel or Luxardo cherry.
  5. Serve ice cold and sip with caution—it’s smooth but strong.

Chef Paddy’s Tip

  • Use real cherry juice concentrate for a bolder finish, or quality grenadine if needed.
  • Float a cherry on top for a clean presentation.
  • Want to batch it? Multiply ingredients and mix gently in a pitcher just before serving.

Let’s cook—and toast—with heart and hustle.
